At Infuze MD, our mission is to help patients achieve a happier, healthier life through comprehensive integrative medicine. Our doctor, Dr. Nilda Abellera, has spent years studying and refining the practice of integrative medicine, and we’re proud to provide comprehensive treatments ranging from IV vitamin drip therapy to regenerative therapy. We offer a range of alternative pain management treatments for patients that want to move beyond opioids for pain management, and Prolozone therapy can help.
What Is Prolozone Therapy?
Prolozone therapy is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure that reduces pain by stimulating the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Deriving from the Latin word “prolix,” which means to “proliferate, regenerate, and rebuild,” Prolozone therapy uses medical-grade ozone to stimulate the proliferation, regeneration, and rebuilding of new ligament and cartilage tissue in areas where it has been weakened.
Ligaments are like structural “rubber bands” in the body, providing a flexible support structure to hold bones, joints, and intervertebral discs together. However, ligaments can grow weak due to injury, surgery, or wear and tear from excessive use, and they often fail to heal back to their original strength and tightness. When these ligaments get weaker, they strain the components that they’re supposed to hold together, ultimately causing pain and arthritis in the bones, discs, and joints. Ligaments also have nerve endings in themselves, which can cause an additional source of pain.
How Does Prolozone Therapy Work?
Prolozone therapy works to kickstart the regenerative process of the ligaments, helping to produce new tissue growth that restores ligaments to their normal function. The procedure involves injecting pure, medical-grade ozone – a naturally-occurring gas made from oxygen atoms – directly into and around where the ligaments attach to the bone. Ozone is a highly reactive molecule, which causes it to stimulate fibroblastic and chondroblastic cellular activity, enhancing the repair cycle at the cellular level and increasing available oxygen and nutrients to support the formation of new tissue.

What Should I Expect From Prolozone Therapy?
Every patient is different, and your response to prolozone therapy will depend on your own body’s healing ability and the severity of the injury and damage. Some patients only need one or two treatments, while others may need six or more to feel the full effects. Our doctor normally repeats the ozone injection process once every 2-4 weeks until we begin to see improvement, and it’s up to you and Dr. Abellera to determine the length of the treatment course that’s necessary for you.
Prolozone Therapy is a safe, natural, and often permanent treatment for many pain conditions. All the research indicates there are no side effects when properly implemented. And if you’re ready to experience the difference that prolozone therapy can make in your life, we’d love to help.
